Day March 12
Museo Escolar de Pucol-Restaurante El Porton
-
After the dreadful rains and storms in this part of the Costa Blanca,
members enjoyed a gloriously fine day out in every sense of the word.
-
As usual we met for coffee, this morning at Gas Express near Catral and once all were assembled, off went the cavalcade to a fascinating Museo in the Elche district.
- lucky enough to have sun roofs down or off!!
- museum is about Spanish life in the middle of the last Century; yes, some of us remember that far back!!
- was all very interesting and colourful.
- And then a well-planned route to a tiny town called Daya Veija, to a newly re-opened restaurant called El Porton.
- The town is known locally to be a nightmare for parking; as ever a certain gent had done his homework and there was space for all the Jaguars in the field behind the restaurant.
- Such a pity parking is no longer allowed in the square as it was would have been a
- sight for this little town.
- Lunch was the usual numerous courses of absolutely delicious Spanish food.
- Members dined sumptuously at 2 long tables, each seating 22 so, yes 44 of us.
- Isn’t that great the food was some of the best in this area – notably the
Swordfish steaks were huge, grilled to perfection and served with an
oil, garlic and parsley dressing.
Well done Dennis for organising today……………a great start to summer.
