December NewsletterWritten by Sandra BrookJAGUARS CELERBRATING CHRISTMAS December 11th we held our Christmas lunch at the restaurant Stan and Ollies in Guardamar del Segura, Alicante. The limit was 60 people, but were allowed 61 in total,and the límited numbers made it important to book early through our club to guarantee their seats, to avoid disapointment. A welcome drink was waiting on arrival and once everyone was seated it was time to pull the Christmas Crackers and read out all our the silly jokes creating laughter around the tables. The menu contained a choice of many starters,main courses and suites, so this was collected at the time of booking making it easier for the kitchen, but the traditional Christmas fare seemed to be the largest choice,and a choice of liquer and coffee completed a most enjoyable meal that was enjoyed by all. A Christmas theamed raffle was held and the winning ticket holders had a choice of 15 prizes to pick from,which also included a 3ft high Santa Claus. An unexpected surprise which was not organized by us was a visit from Santa himself, who handed out sugar candy canes, and Some of our ladies had their photo taken while Sat upon his knee. The fun of the day for a while had to be interupted, when Mike Brook the club president had a sad anouncement to make to all of the attending club members. With a heavy heart he let it be known that our dear friend and JEC member of many years, Bryan Patterson, had sadly passed away 2 days previous to this event, which he had been looking forward to attending. Mike asked the members to raíse their glasses to a farewell drink to a wonderful man who will be sadly missed. |
